13th Regional ‘SARAS’ fair begins in Tripura

Agartala, January 2: The Rural Development and Forest Minister of Tripura Naresh Jamatia on Tuesday inaugurated the 12 days long 13th Regional ‘Saras’ fair-2018 at Hapania international fair ground in Agartala.

The fair has been organised under the initiative of Rural Development Department with the financial help of Central Govt.

There are around 190 stalls in the fair, till now 147 Self Help Groups (SHGs) have set up their stalls with different types of products. Besides that, around 16 stalls from other states of the country also participating in this fair.

Speaking on the occasion, Naresh Jamatia said Self Help groups play a vital role to eradicate poverty from the state; this fair will give them a platform to ensure income generation as for the last few years.

During the inauguration programme Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Prafullajit Sinha, West Tripura district’s Zilla Parishad chairperson Dilip Das, Chief Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan along with other dignitaries were also present.
