14 Bangladeshi nationals arrested in Tripura

Guwahati: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel detained 14 Bangladeshi nationals along the India-Bangladesh border at Madhupur in the Sepahijala district of Tripura.

The detainees were suspected to be Rohingyas but preliminary information reveals that they are Bangladeshi nationals seeking work crossing international boundaries, said official.

They were apprehended by BSF forces at the border on suspicion of being Rohingyas, official claimed.

The majority of the detainees are minors, official stated.

Official further added that they were afterwards handed over to cops for further investigation. The infiltrators are being interrogated at the Madhupur police station, where they have confessed to being Bangladeshi nationals.

Further investigation is underway, official said.
