16 Arrested After CM Sonowal’s Order To Take Action Against People Running Syndicate

Following the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s order to take stringent action against the people involved in the syndicate, the state police have arrested at least 16 people for their alleged involvement in cow smuggling and seized 13 cattle including other objectionable items since June 11th, 2019 night.

The Dhubri and South Salmara police on June 12th, 2019 arrested 12 people – Nurruddin (40), Nazmat Ali (45), Samsul Hoque (42), Akhirul (22), Abdul Azad (35), Habezuddin (28), Sahidur (27), Mizanur Rahman (26), Chand Miya (45), Akidul Mandal, Hasem Ali and Nur Alam Skini.

CM Sonowal on June 11th, 2019 directed the Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia to take stringent action against the people involved in the syndicate.

In a press communiqué, the CM said, “Syndicate will not be tolerated at any cost. Strict action will be taken against the people whoever is involved in such activities.”

The CM further said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government has been taking stringent action against such things like syndicate which are against the interest of the Assamese community.”
