Guwahati: In a major crackdown on the illegal drugs trade, the Hojai police have been able to make a massive seizure after an undercover operation inside Rani Kamlapati (Habibganj) Special Fare Special Train on Sunday.
Around 170 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.7 crore concealed in 150 packets has been recovered and seized by the police from the round storage tanks inside the space between the outer roof and inside ceiling near the toilet blocks.

It is learned that the undercover cops started their operation from Halflong Railway Station and recovered the consignments after it halted at Hojai’s Dhalpukhuri station and Nagaon’s Chaparmukh station respectively.
Four persons have also been arrested by the police in connection with the recovery.
The arrested persons were identified as Uttam Kumar Chauhan, Atul Chauhan, Karuna Nidhi Mishra of Kherani in West Karbi Anglong, and Suraj Chauhan of Lanka’s Kharikhana.
