Guwahati: At least 18 Army jawans in Nagaon’s Missa Army Camp were reportedly tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
A source stated that the Jawans had come to the camp from outside the state and were quarantined since then. On their swab being examined, they turned out to be COVID-19 positive.
Currently, the jawans are being provided with medical assistance and other personnel who came in contact with the infected jawans are being quarantined and tested.
On the other hand, it has been reported that one security personnel of an IGP ranked official in Guwahati was also found to be positive. He has been sent for treatment and further contact tracing has been initiated.
The police department following the rising cases of COVID-19 among policemen has initiated strict measures to contain the spread of the virus. Sanitizing and maintaining the social distancing have also been made the priority with all strictness.
