As a part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations and with an aim to expose the children to the latest national and global trends, the St Vivekananda English Academy in Guwahati will host the first-ever All Assam Scrabble Championship on December 9th, 2019.
The event will be organised at St. Vivekananda English Academy in collaboration with Collins Learning, the education division of Harper Collins Publishers, India. Time8 News is the Digital Media Partner of the event.
“Scrabble, as we all know, is an adrenaline-filled, highly cerebral activity that nurtures the 21st-century skills of problem-solving, critical thinking, analyzing and synthesizing information in addition to building a strong vocabulary. It has immense cognitive value and can even help in stress and anxiety management and in developing mathematical skills,” said Mitra Som Saha, Principal of St Vivekananda English Academy.
She added, “While Scrabble Championships are gaining wide popularity across the globe and at all levels, Assam or Guwahati is yet to conduct any such competition for our school students. We, therefore, have taken up the initiative to bring to the students of our state an opportunity to get hooked to this awesome game of the mind. It is our privilege to organize this Championship for the first time for the students of our city, our state.”
The championship is open for students of Classes 6 to 8. The Championship will witness the participation from around 30 schools taking the total number of participants to 90.
