2 GNLA rebels give up arms

Shillong, December 4: Two Garo National Liberation Army(GNLA) cadres surrendered before South Garo Hills(SGH) police on Sunday.

The duo have been identified as Mahat N Sangma(22), resident of Gittinggre village, SGH and Abat G Momin(22), resident of Rongjeng Rongchek Songgital East Garo Hills(EGH) district.

They both joined GNLA in July 2017.

As per police reports both the cadres were with GNLA C-in-C, Sohan D Shira.

Superintendent of Police, SGH, AT Sangma informed TIME8 that on November 16 they received inputs of the duo resting in Halwa Atong village with Sohan, where a joint operation was also conducted by the SGH police and SF10 commandos to nab them but however they managed to flee from the spot.

However both of them were abandoned later which left them with no choice and surrender

“They contacted the church leaders to surrender. The local church leaders informed the police and were brought to Baghmara.” added the SP.

Both of surrendered without weapons.
