Two news cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been detected in Assam’s Guwahati on Monday.
As per Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s tweet Two persons were tested positive for the COVID-19 in Guwahati. Among them, one person belongs to Morigaon, while the other is from Guwahati itself.
The total cases in the state have reached 64 with 29 active cases and 34 being discharged.
As many as eight persons, four each in Guwahati and Silchar, tested positive for the deadly contagious infection in Assam on May 7th, 2020, taking the number of cases in the state to 53.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the health department has launched contact tracing of the infected student to break the chain of transmission.
The GMCH has been closed temporarily for new patients for the next few days, Sarma wrote on Twitter. The hospital premises will also be sanitized, the minister informed.
