    20 Feared Dead As Bus Catches Fire After Accident In UP’s Kannauj

    The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to provide ex-gratia of Rs 2 Lakh each to families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each as compensation to the injured

    At least 20 passengers are feared dead after a bus collided with a truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj district and caught fire. Severely injured 21 passengers have been rescued and are undergoing burn treatment.

    The incident occurred at around 9:30 pm on January 10th, 2020 when the double-decker bus collided head-on with a truck on the highway and burst into flames.

    The bus was travelling from Kannauj to Jaipur and collided with a truck at Dewar Marg in Kannauj The accident took place near Chiloi village.

    The Uttar Pradesh Police said that a DNA test will be conducted to determine the passengers’ identities.

    The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to provide ex-gratia of Rs 2 Lakh each to families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each as compensation to the injured.

    Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered his condolences and has directed officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 11th, 2020 send his condolences to the families of around 20 people who were killed in the accident.

    Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to Twitter to offer his condolences and called it a “horrific accident”.

    Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also condoled the incident and hoped for a speedy recovery of the injured.
