21 Arrested In Tinsukia Moral Policing Case

21 people have been arrested in the Tinsukia moral policing case

The Tinsukia police have arrested a total of 21 accused including 10 women in the Tinsukia moral policing incident that took place on June 7th, 2019.

On June 7th, 2019, an angry mob attacked a woman and her son with rods, sticks and kicks at Sewpur Tea Estate in Rongpuria area of the district, located 485 km east of Guwahati.

The mother, Jamuna Tanti, died of her injuries on the spot, while her son Ajay succumbed to injuries in hospital on June 8th, 2019. A video of the barbaric attack has now surfaced on social media platforms. In the video, surprisingly the policemen were present there at that time when the incident took place but no one prevented the crowd from attacking the woman and her son.

The mother-son duo was attacked after the body of Ajay’s wife Radha was recovered from a septic tank near their house. Radha was missing since June 5th, 2019, as per the locals.

A case (No 805/19) under 143, 144, 147, 149, 302, 102B, 353 and 429 was registered against the accused with the Tinsukia police.
