Guwahati: As the ‘total lockdown’ imposed in Kamrup metro district started from Sunday midnight, the Guwahati police arrested 26 persons for violating the lockdown restrictions from various corners of Guwahati on Monday till 5 pm.
The police also registered four cases against the violators besides realising of fine of Rs 3000 in connection with non-wearing of face masks.
Throughout the day, the police detained 112 vehicles – 2 wheeler-61, 3 wheeler-17, 4 wheeler-32 and 6 wheeler-02.
Owing to the rapid increasing of the number of coronavirus positive cases in the state, more particularly in Guwahati, the state government announced a ‘total lockdown’ in Kamrup metro district with effect from Sunday midnight for 14 days. The total lockdown will continue till July 12.
The state also imposed week-end lockdown for rest of the municipal areas of the state to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Till Monday, the state recorded 7492 persons as coronavirus positive. However, 5333 patients were discharged from various hospitals of the state while 2145 persons were still found to be active.
