Guwahati: A 28-year-old drug addict was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Guwahati’s Panjabari area on Saturday.
The incident took place at Nirmaan Rehabilitation Facility in the Panjabari area.
The deceased has been identified as Akshay Kumar Bora, a resident of Mangoldoi.
As per sources, the deceased was admitted to the rehab centre on February 11.
However, the family of the deceased alleged that Akshay was tortured and murdered by the workers of the centre.
The family of the deceased said, “We used to contact the centre frequently to check on his health, and they always let us know he’s doing well now. We were not permitted to talk with him or meet him.”
“They further claimed that rehab official informed them that it is their protocol to restrict patient meetings until 45 days following admission.”
“I demand proper investigation into the matter,” said the family of the deceased.
Further investigation is underway.
