    3 Films From Northeast To Be Screened At IFFI 2019

    The Festival will be held from November 20th-28th, 2019 in Goa

    Three films from Northeast India have been selected for screening at the 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2019. The Festival will be held from November 20th-28th, 2019 in Goa.

    Around 250 films from various countries will be screened at the festival. Among three films from Northeast, award-winning Assamese filmmaker Manju Bora’s In The Land of Poison Women, Bohubritta by Assam’s filmmaker Utpal Datta, Pradip Kurbah’s Iewduh have also figured in the list.

    Bora’s In The Land of Poison Women is made in Pangchenpa language of Arunachal Pradesh while Kurbah’s Iewduh, made in Khasi language. Lewduh portrays the lives of everyday people with everyday stories, not dignified as heroes, but nevertheless people who make the lives of each other better.

    On the other hand, Bohubritta is a poetry film by Datta and will be screened in the non-feature film section at IFFI 2019. Datta is also a national award-winning film critic.

    Bohubritta (Circles) is based on the life of women. It shows the life of women how it starts and ends at the same point,” said Datta while speaking with Time8.
