Four forest officials were killed while two others were injured in a road accident at Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district of Assam on August 30th, 2019.
The accident took place at around 5 am when forest departments jeep fell into a ditch near the Hatikhuli area along the NH-37. The deceased have been identified as Priyom Mech (driver), Bipul Hazarika (guard), Prasanta Dutta and Nizamuddin Ahmed.
Ranger Bubul Baruah and Najimuddin (guard) sustained severe injuries and has been shifted to Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh. It is suspected that the jeep was hit by a speeding vehicle.
