    5.4 magnitude earthquake hits Sikkim, other parts of Northeast

    Tremors were also felt in neighbouring countries like Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh

    Guwahati: An earthquake measuring 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale hits Sikkim and other parts of the northeastern states including Assam and Meghalaya at around 8:49 pm on Monday evening.

    Neighbouring states like West Bengal and Bihar have also felt the tremble, as per reports.

    Tremors were also felt in neighbouring countries like Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

    As per a report by the National Centre of Seismology, the earthquake was recorded at a shallow depth of 10 km with its epicenter in the Sikkim-Nepal border.

    So far no casualty has been reported as a result of the quake.

    Further reports are awaited.
