5 hunters nabbed in Arunachal Pradesh sanctuary

Pasighat, January 6: In a successful operation led by Jeepghat Beat Officer Orin Perme, a wildlife team nabbed five hunters from the Anchalghat range at the Daying Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary in East Siang district.

The search operations were conducted post the seizure of large quantities of wildlife meat and carcasses seized near Itanagar on December 29 last year.

The five of them have been identified as Dibash Pait(30), Diganta Doley (25), Batsa Doley (28), Rajesh Chungkurang(42) and Nong Doley.

Carcass of a female hog deer, three 12-bore guns, 14 live cartridges and three mobile handsets were recovered from their procession.

As per the officials, Dibash and Nong were earlier warned by wildlife officials for their alleged involvement in hunting activities.

In the meantime, the hunters have been handed over to the Sille-Oyan police under sections of the Wildlife Protection Act.
