6 people of marriage party killed in road accident in Dergaon

Guwahati, November 29, 2017: Six persons of a marriage party were killed when their vehicle collided with a truck carrying sand on National Highway 15 near Batabari village under Dergaon circle last night around 9.15pm.

 The Maruti Suzuki Alto car with registration no. DL-3C-R-6768, carrying 6 persons of a marriage party, was coming from Salonibari of Tezpur district and collided with the truck having registration no. AS-14C-0806 coming from the opposite direction, near Batabari village situated between Basimari and Dalgaon villages. The Alto car was heading to Mahavir Road of Kharupetia.

Two persons died on the spot while four persons scrambled to injuries after admitted to hospitals in critical conditions.

The accident happened as Truck Driver took a sharp right turn seeing the bad road ahead which led to car losing the control and colliding with truck head-on with fast speed. The impact was such forceful that half of the car slipped under the truck after getting damaged badly. A bike with two persons was also moving ahead of the car but fortunately, they fell right side of the road with minor injuries.

Two persons died on the spot have been identified as SSB Jawan Krishna Nand Chowdhury and Osman Ansari of Goroimari village of Sonitpur. Rest of the victims have been identified as Imaan Ansari, Nadim Ansari, Om Prakash Shah and Durga Shah. Name of injured bike riders are Maulana Abdul Mazid and Ikramul Hussain.
