Guwahati: At least six persons, including a constable, were arrested by Nagaon police on charges of illegal transportation of cattle on Sunday.
Police has also seized 42 cattle, 2 trucks, and 1 car along with Rs 34,560 from the possession of the arrested accused.
The arrested individuals were identified as Jan Bora, Mustafa Ahmed, Rutam Ali, Bhrigu Bailung and Ajibur Rahman.
Reportedly, the cattle-laden trucks and the car were seized by the police at Boghat in the district. Police has also informed that a home guard, who is also involved in the act, is currently absconding.
Informing about the development, Nagaon police on Twitter wrote, “6 Arrested for illegal Cattle Transportation, seized 2 Trucks, 1 car, 42 Cattle and ₹34,560. In follow up, 1 Constable and 1 Home Guard found facilitating such consignments. Constable Arrested, HG absconding but will be caught soon.”
