Guwahati: At least six women tea garden workers were injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes in parts of Assam’s Biswanath district that witnessed rainfall activity along with thunderstorms on Wednesday.

The lightning strike incidents occurred in Majuligarh Tea Estate and Pabhoi Tea Estate in Biswanath district respectively.

The injured women tea workers were identified as Charit Orang (Majuligarh), Laxmi Kalandi (Majuligarh), Mami Bhumij (Majuligarh), Gopi Oriya (Pabhoi), Pinky Tasha (Pabhoi) and Kumli Khadal (Pabhoi).

All the injured workers are undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Biswanath Chariali.
