Guwahati: Seven suspected cattle smugglers were arrested and 53 animals rescued from Gohpur in Biswanath District of Assam on Sunday night, police said.
Four Bolero pickup vehicles bearing registration numbers AS-13AC- 2062, AS_12BC- 7485, AS 12BC- 8275, AS -27 C- 7688 were intercepted at National Highway 15 in the Magoni area in Gohpur and 53 cattle were rescued, they said.
Cases were registered against seven men, identified as Mohidul Islam, Purna Gogoi, Javed Ali, Khurshed Ali, Rofikul Islam, Sohidul Islam and Bikas Gogoi, in this connection, an official added.
