Aizawl, December 7: The sit-in protest organized by the Mizo National Front(MNF) against the Chief Executive Member(CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council turned violent after the security personnel resorted to lathi-charge injuring nine persons including five women in South Mizoram.
The MNF has alleged that the CRPF personnel without any magisterial order assaulted the protesters.
The MNF has been reportedly holding protest since Wednesday against CEM Shanti Jiban Chakma for continuing office despite alleged lack of support from the council members.
As per the MNF in the month of October all the six Congress MDCs withdrew support from the BJP-led Mizoram government. But the CEM despite lacking the majority support to continue its government continued to function as the CEM.
