A village in Bongaigaon yet to be Electrified, Locals seek Government Help

The authorities have installed poles and meters in the village but there is no electric connection to their houses

Guwahati/Bongaigaon: At a time when the entire country is moving on a digital age, a village in Bongaigaon district is yet to be fully electrified.

As per information available, the Majgaon Part-2 village in the district despite having electricity poles and electric meters installed is yet to receive the electricity connection.

Locals claimed that the electricity department had installed the transformer, electric posts and also meters but even after a year, the there is no connection yet.

One of the locals said that due to the lack of electricity, the locals do not have access to televisions or other electricity appliances. They do have cell phones but in order to charge them they have to travel to another village to charge their devices.

Another issue is that the students of the village still study under candle light or kerosene lamps. Some families do have chargeable lights but even that is not useful as every time the battery drains, they have to travel to some other village to get it charged.

The locals have appealed the government to solve this problem at the earliest.
