Aadhar card no longer a far cry, work to begin from March 15 in Kamrup(R)

Guwahati, February 9: A meeting for the committee constituted for issuing Aadhaar cards, held at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Rural) at Amingaon, has decided to initiate its work in Kamrup (Rural) district from March 15 onwards.

As per reports, the meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup district Kamal Kumar Baishya. District Development Commissioner (DDC) and member secretary of the Aadhaar Card Committee Esther Kathar in the meeting has stated that the Government has instructed the committee to complete the works on Aadhaar cards by December 21, 2018.

While the Government had already allotted 66 Aadhaar card centres across the district, it was decided to increase the number of centres to 123 in the recent meeting. It was further decided to start Aadhaar card centres at the offices of the Circle Officer Town Committee, Block Development Officer, and Gaon Panchayats.

Meanwhile, a decision was also taken to allot two operators and an administrative assistant in each of these centers. The Deputy Commissioner further stated that Gaon Panchayat Secretaries would act as administrative assistants. He has also asked the concened authorities to provide electricity and telephone connection at the Aadhaar card centres.
