AASU Calls For Smooth Conduct Of HSLC, HS Examinations

Guwahati, February 2, 2019

A delegation of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) urged the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) to hold the next High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC), High Madrassa and the Higher Secondary (HS) final examinations without any errors and to maintain sanctity of the entire examination process.

A delegation was led by AASU’s education secretary Sarat Hazarika. The delegation met SEBA chairman Ramesh Chandra Jain and secretary Suranjana Senapati and also submitted a memorandum. The delegation also met and submitted a memorandum to AHSEC Controller of Examinations Pankaj Barthakur.

It may be mentioned that the HSLC and High Madrassa examinations will commence from February 14th, 2019, while the HS final examination will begin on February 12th, 2019.

Against shutdown

The SEBA has appealed to the political parties and other organizations not to call for shutdown during the forthcoming HSLC and the HS final examinations. It may be mentioned that around 3.52 lakh students will appear in the HSLC and High Madrassa examinations being conducted by the SEBA, while 2,41,942 students will appear in the HS final examination being conducted by the AHSEC in 2019. The state is on the boil over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 issue.
