Absconding forest official Arup Baishya suspended from duty

Guwahati: The office of the chief conservator of forests on Friday has suspended absconding Arup Baishya, forester grade-I with immediate effect.

He was working under Range Forest Officer, Circle Checking Range, in the office of the chief conservator of forests(T), Central Assam Circle, Guwahati.

As per a report, the Hajo forest office last Wednesday had raided the residence of Arup Baishya at Bonkhor area in Saualkuchi under Kamrup District and recovered two large assault rifles, a large quantity of ammunition and empty cartridges, nets used in large-scale poaching and other offensive weapons.

The infamous forest official has also been suspected to be involved in animal poaching and illegal wildlife trading.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of forester 1 rank official, Sangeetarani Sinha of Hajo forest range.

The forest team also seized two Tokay geckos, bones of various animals, shells of tortoises, facial bone of porcupine, porcupine body thorns, wild boar teeth many more from the residence of the Baishya. 

Currently, forest official Arup Baishya, is reported to be absconding.
