ACA To Reform Assam Cricket; Guwahati to witness International T20 in March

Guwahati, January 27, 2019

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) newly appointed secretary Devojit Lon Saikia on January 27, 2019 said that the association has taken a number of initiatives in a bid to reform the Assam cricket.

Addressing a press conference here at Guwahati, Saikia informed that the ACA has decided to allot fund of Rs two lakh each for district committees to hold local cricket matches. “ACA has also decided to take loans to renovate home Cricket. Assam Cricket is expected to be completely corporate in near future, new officers will be recruited,” Saikia stated.

Talking to the media persons, Saikia informed that the Assam Cricket Academy has been dissolved and new advertisement for the academy will be issued on February 1st, 2019.

ACA will host Assam Premier Club Championship slated to be held from the third week of February 2019. “The winner of the championship will get prize money of Rs 20 lakh, while Runners-up team will get Rs 10 lakh,” Saikia informed. Moreover, the ACA has also informed that the club cricket will be held under association from now onwards.

As per Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official release, the women’s T20 cricket series between India and England has been scheduled to be held from March 4th at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
