GUWAHATI: Netfilx India’s original series ‘Delhi Crime’, starring Adil Hussain, has secured nominations for India as a part of 2020 International Emmy Award.
The International Academy of Television arts and Sciences announced the nominations on Thursday.
Delhi Crime, directed by Indian-Canadian director Richie Mehta, was nominated in the Best Drama Category. The drama featured Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, Vinod Sherawat, is a crime drama, which brings to life the story of a Deputy Commissioner of Police, who is tasked with finding those responsible for the horrific 2012 Delhi gang-rape and murder.
Actor Adil Hussain who is a part of the drama, took Twitter to share his excitement on the news.
Along with Delhi Crime, Amazon Prime’s Four More Shots was also nominated for the category of Best Comedy.
Delhi Crime, inspired by the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, will compete against Charite 2 – Season 2 (Germany), Criminal UK (United Kingdom) and El Jardin de Broce (The Bronze Garden) – Season 2, from Argentina.
Meanwhile, actor Arjun Mathur was also nominated for the International Emmys in the Best Performance by an actor category, for Amazon’s Made in Heaven.
Mathur, whose performance as a gay man looking for a dignified life in the drama was acclaimed, will compete against Raphael Logam in Impuros, guido Caprino in 1994 and Billy Barratt in Responsible Child.
Previously, Sacred Games, Radhika Apte, Lust Stories, Inside Edge and The Remix have represented India at the International Emmys as nominees. The British series McMafia, co-starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, won the Best Drama award in 2019. The 2020 ceremony will be held on November 23
