45-year old Dolly Roy was served with hearing notices thrice. However, owing to her failure to attend the hearings, she, in an ex-parte judgment by the Jorhat District Foreigners’ Tribunal, has been sent to the detention centre on June 12th, 2019.

“The FT officials gave us three dates for the hearing. But we failed to produce ourselves at the hearing centres on any of the three dates due to medical emergencies. Our requisite documents are authentic,” said Roy while talking to TIME8.

“We have produced medical certificates but the officials ordered that my mother has to stay at the detention centre till June 20th, 2019 until further notice. It seems the officials have made up their minds to declare us as ‘D voter’. Our names are enrolled in the electoral rolls of 1966,” said Sagarjit Roy, son of Dolly.

Dolly, who is a resident of the Ward Number 6 of Golaghat, has been sent to the Jorhat Detention Centre after the Tribunal declared her a foreigner.
