AIUDF Slams Govt Over ‘Delay’ In NRC Publication, Dubs Shiladitya As ‘Crazy’

The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) on August 20th, 2019, slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Assam Government for allegedly delaying the publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Reiterating the party’s demand for an error-free NRC, AIUDF general secretary Aminul Islam urged the state government to take appropriate legal actions in identification and deportation of the illegal foreigners from the state. “There is no compromise with the issue of illegal foreigners,” he said.

Addressing a press conference here in Hatsingimari in Western Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar district, he further said, “We won’t tolerate any harassment on the origin Indian citizens in the name of re-verification of the data for inclusion of their names in the NRC.”

Islam also slammed the BJP’s Hojai legislator Shiladitya Dev for his statement about inclusion of more names of the people residing along the international border in the NRC. “Shiladitya always speaks against the minority community of the state. We don’t give importance on his words. He is a crazy person,” Islam said.
