Aizawl, November 22: Very soon Aizawl will also be seen on the Indian Railways map as a railroad is being constructed from Sairang and Bairabi. This construction is expected to be completed by 2020.
NK Prasad, GM (Construction), NFR started that the who project is expected to be completed by 2020. The distance of the lines will be 51 kilometres which will include seven bridges and 23 tunnels.
He also informed that 22 tunnels out of the 23 tunnels are already drilled.
He further added that a 272 km long railroad connecting Sairang to Bangladesh border trade centre, Kawrpuichhuah is also being planned. The survey on this is currently completed and further initiatives will be taken in the coming days.
The cost of Construction of the line is said to be Rs 2384 Crores.
Sources added that the initial target of completion was March 2019 but due to the rainy season and compensation issues, the date of completion has been revised to March 2020.
