Guwahati: Raijor Dal leader and Sibsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi on Monday rubbished the reports of him joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

From Monday morning, news of Gogoi’s possible joining AAP was doing rounds.

Gogoi said, “It is fake news. I am a leader of a regional party and our party’s motto is to safeguard the rights of the indigenous people of the state. There is no such communication between AAP and me.”

The Raijor Dal leader, however, admitted that he and Arvind Kejriwal of AAP shared a good relation.

“We know each other for a long time and I was there to see the formation of AAP. But that doesn’t mean that I am joining AAP. The rumours might be a part of a political conspiracy,” he added.

Like Gogoi, the AAP has also denied the news. AAP leader Kamal Medhi told media that the rumours were baseless and AAP has made any such decision of including Akhil Gogoi in the party.
