Guwahati: Raijor Dal president and independent legislator of Sibsagar, Akhil Gogoi, on Friday filed a Rs 100 Crore defamation case against All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Karim Uddin Borbhuiya.

Informing the media, Raijor Dal leader Bhasco De Saikia said that the besides the Rs 100 Crore suit, a criminal defamation case was also filed against the AIUDF MLA.

Borbhuiya and Akhil Gogoi have been engaged in a war of words since the united Opposition candidate Ripun Bora lost in the Rajya Sabha polls last month. Borbhuiya alleged that Gogoi has cross voted against Bora in against of monetary benefits from BJP.

Borbhuiya had also challenged Gogoi to face a ‘lie detector’ test to prove his innocence. Gogoi subsequently also agreed to undergo the test but it never happened.
