Guwahati: At a time when the third wave is peaking and infections are skyrocketing, Sibsagar MLA Akhil Gogoi on Saturday confirmed that all the members of his family have been tested positive for COVID-19.
However, the Raijor Dal president was tested negative for COVID-19 in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
In a video, the Raijor Dal president said, “From Friday evening, all the members in my family including me were suffering from fever. We were experiencing deliberate headaches, body aches and to some extent, we were feeling a bit frosty. Accordingly, we got ourselves tested for COVID this morning. Interestingly, my son and my wife were tested positive whereas, I was tested negative.”
Gogoi also claimed that amidst the Bihu festivities, the leader didn’t step out of his home and didn’t even participate in any bihu program or any other party-related events.
But, since his family were detected positive for COVID, the Sibasagar MLA has opted for a regular RT-PCR test to confirm whether he is COVID positive or not. The result of the RT-PCR test will be accessible by him on Saturday evening, informed Gogoi in the video.
Meanwhile, the Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi has decided to postpone all his official works, party-related works etc for at least 5 days or more.
