Amguri Locals allege Nagaland constructing roads in Assam

Guwahati, January 12: As people in Assam especially the ones living on the Assam-Nagaland border have been very much worried about the Nagalim issue and the uncertainty of the Naga Framework Agreement will have on the state, now is alleged that Nagaland is constructing roads on the Assam side. Locals from Sivasagar’s Halaoting have alleged that over the past few days Nagas have been constructing a road over the Assam territory.

The issue of Nagaland constructing roads on Assam territory has actually created a sensation among the locals of Haluating Grant village in Amguri Tehsil of Sivasagar. The locals alleged that the Naga people have already constructed 90 percent of the road which has taken several metres of land from Assam.

It was further reported that the road in being constructed with the help of all the technical equipments possible and Nagaland police along with government officials are also supervising the construction of the road.

Following this, the locals also alleged that even though the government officials and departments from Assam know about the issue, they haven’t yet taken any proper steps.

It may be mentioned that a few days ago it was reported that Nagaland has already set up a new subdivision at the Assam-Nagaland border in Sungajan in Golaghat’s Dhansiri by encroaching land from Assam. About four villages covering an area of 20 thousand hectares from Assam were inserted into this new sub-division named Hokoi.
