Guwahati: Assam Congress leader Angkita Dutta has been promoted as President of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress on Thursday.
So far, Angkita has been serving the position of Vice-president of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress.
In a letter by Srinivas BV, president of the Indian Youth Congress, said, “Keeping in view of your services for the organization, Indian Youth Congress takes great pleasure in promoting you as President of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress with immediate effect.”
Srinivas BV added, “I am confident that you will work hard and devote your full time and energy to further strengthen the Congress party under the dynamic leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.”
Notably, Kamrul Islam Choudhury previously served the position of the Assam Youth Congress President.
Daughter of former APCC president Anjan Dutta, Angkita Dutta is a resident of Amguri town in Sivasagar District of Assam.
Dutta first contested the election in 2016 from the Amguri constituency and lost the battle against Prodip Hazarika from Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) party.
Again in 2021 elections, Angkita Dutta lost to AGP candidate Prodip Hazarika for the second consecutive time.
Meanwhile, Ratul Patowary has been appointed as the working president of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress.
Patowary had also contested the Assam elections 2021 from Dharmapur legislative assembly constituency.
