Anti-CAB Posters Pasted Infront Of Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury’s Residence

Earlier the Minister was forced to “run away” from a party meeting reportedly fearing black flag protests

While Assam is on the boil over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill Assam Food and Civil Supplies Minister and AGP leader Phani Bhushan Choudhury faced the wrath of the protesters in Bongaigaon after posters mocking the Minister’s stand were pasted in front of his residence.

Posters which read “I support CAB”, “Phani Bhusan Hai Hai, AGP Hai Hai”, “I am Phani Bhusan, I am a broker of the Assamese community” were hung at the entrance gate and walls of his residence in Bongaigaon.

It may be mentioned that on December 7th, 2019, Choudhury was forced to  “run away” from a party meeting reportedly fearing black flag protests.

He had an AGP meeting at Manikpur in Bongaigaon district of Assam. On being intimated that protesters are staging a dharna and marching towards the meeting spot with black flags, the minister “ran away” via another route.

It may be recalled, the AGP had withdrawn support from the BJP-led alliance in the state following the introduction of the previous bill. However, two months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, AGP joined hands with the BJP.

The Bill seeks to grant Indian citizenship to the people belonging to the Hindus, Jains, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Parsis who have become the victims of religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan and entered India.
