APCC lashes at BJP for making ‘false’ promises in pre-poll speeches

Raising the issue of spiraling cost of petrol and diesel, the APCC has stated, “He can ask them- are they happy paying Rs 87.50 for a litre of petrol and Rs 81.79 for that of diesel?”

Guwahati: Condemning the ‘objectionable’ statement made by state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Das on Congress’s campaign ‘Axom Basaon Ahok’, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has raised several questions on the promises made by the saffron in their pre-poll speeches.

Earlier, Das criticized the ‘Axom Basaon Ahok’ campaign as a ‘drama’ made by the party to woo the people of Assam.

Commenting on BJP’s campaign ‘Poriyal Samparkha Abhijan’, the APCC said that they are happy that the BJP has finally started a campaign which will give them an opportunity to ask each family member ‘whether they received in Rs 15 lakhs in their bank accounts that PM Modi has promised before last polls.’

“Mr Das and the BJP can also ask each family how many of their boys and girls got jobs as promised by them. It may be reminded that PM Modi had grandly announced 2 crore jobs every year and CM Sarbananda Sonowal had also promised 25 lakh jobs for the youth of Assam,” the APCC mentioned in a release.

APCC also stated that in their Vision Document, the BJP had promised to organize ‘job mela’ in Assam for unemployed youths.” Mr Das can ask them how many of their sons and daughters lost their jobs due to the sudden and unplanned lockdown during the Covid- 19 pandemic? And also, how are they surviving now?” the party stated.

Raising the issue of spiraling cost of petrol and diesel, the APCC has stated, “He can ask them- are they happy paying Rs 87.50 for a litre of petrol and Rs 81.79 for that of diesel?”

“He can also ask the women in the household are they happy paying Rs 818 for a LPG cylinder, Rs 60 for 1 kg of onion and more than Rs 100 per kilo for all kinds of Dal?”, the release added.

Alleging that the BJP has pushed the people of Assam into a state of despair and they are now fed up with the false promises of the saffron party, APCC said, “Instead of expelling unwanted migrants, the BJP plans to bring in more by implementing CAA. So people of Assam know very well who does ‘drama’ and who is sincere.”
