Apex court allots M’laya 10 of 27 medical seats in Assam


Guwahati, September 24: The Apex court has stated that 10 medical seats out of 27 seats  will be made available to the Meghalaya students in Assam, whereas Assam students are allocated 17 out of the 27 seats.

The SC made the decision keeping in view the interest of Meghalaya. Assam and Meghalaya will be required to conduct counseling in an appropriate way to include only the merited students from among the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) qualified candidates.

The court ordered that candidates not qualified NEET will not be entitled for any consideration.

The apex court’s order, further stated that no counseling will take place in respect to other seats except the 27 seats.

Also the SC mentioned that it was entirely a provisional arrangement, keeping in view the special leave petition and the final list will be decided based on candidate’s merit.

The next hearing will take place in the second week of January 2018.
