A young artist from Assam has developed the art of portrait painting on tiny feathers and is all set to break the internet through her paintings.
23-year-old Hima Deka, a resident of Maligaon, Guwahati was appreciated widely as she made a feather painting of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Interestingly, her artwork of Sushant Singh Rajput’s portrait got noticed by the late actor’s niece Katyayni Aarya Rajput and she shared the artwork in her instagram story.
Speaking with TIME8, Hima Deka said “I was overwhelmed when I got to know about my art being shared by Sushant Singh’s niece”.
Rajput appreciated Hima’s work and wrote, “Thank you, he would have loved it.”
Deka posted several pictures of the miniature art on her social media accounts with heartfelt words. She wrote, “You will always be remembered. My small #tribute to #sushantsinghrajput.. No words can ever describe the loss of losing a person like him in the world of talent. May your soul rest in piece..”
When asked on the idea of feather art, Hima said, “From a very young age, I started doing painting. Earlier I used to do more of pencil sketch but during lockdown period I thought of doing something unique, something very different from the usual”.
“Then I started with my first art of Rishi Kapoor and then Irfan Khan. I uploaded them in my Instagram account and people have greatly appreciated my work”, added Hima.
Hima Deka is a student of Gauhati University and is currently pursuing her post graduation in History. When Bollywood’s heartthrob Sushant Singh Rajput died by hanging himself amid coronavirus-induced lockdown, Deka thought of paying tribute to the actor with her artwork. So, she made a beautiful portrait of the actor in a feather.
About the art process, Hima said that “It takes me almost three days to complete a painting and I only invest three hours a day” adding, “I use the natural feather which is about 5.8 cm and is white. Normally people love to do this art on a black or brown feather but I opted for the white one”.
