    Arunachal: 1 Assam Rifles jawan martyred in ambush

    The deceased, Babu Rao, was a resident of Andhra Pradesh has sustained grievous bullet injuries and dies on the way to hospital.

    Guwahati: In a tragic incident, one Assam Rifle jawan was killed after a convoy of patrolling party was ambushed in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

    The deceased, Babu Rao, was a resident of Andhra Pradesh has sustained grievous bullet injuries and dies on the way to hospital.

    It is known that, the incident took place around 6.30 an when a convoy of six Assam rifles came under heavy fire.

    The official statement issued by Indian army said, “During an operation the Security Forces along with police encountered a group of insurgents near Saniliam Village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on October 21, 2020. A soldier was killed in action during the operation.”

    Meanwhile, it is suspected that NSCM (IM) was behind the ambush. However, the militant group on Thursday denied involvement in the ambush.

    After the incident, security forces have launched a massive search operation to ban the militants who escaped into the dense forest.

    This is the second attack on Assam Rifles personnel by militants in Arunachal Pradesh this month.

    Earlier on October 4, one Assam Rifles jawan was killed while another sustained injuries in an attack in neighboring Changlang district.
