Guwahati: At least nine children have died due to a diarrhoea outbreak in a remote circle of Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district over the last two weeks, officials said.
According to the sources, all children were in the age group of 3-10 years.
Health officials and the district administration were triggered concerned by the disease’s recent deaths of seven children from Pongkong village and two from Longliang.
District Medical Officer (DMO) Obang Taggu stated the exact reason is unknown, as results of stool and water sample examination are awaited.
District officials are continuously keeping an eye on the situation and at the Lazu community hall, a medical team and an ambulance has been kept on standby, official said.
According to officials, the situation has improved in recent days as there have been no new reports of casualties.
