Arunachal: The militants fire at Assam Rifles camp along the India-Myanmar border; One JCO injured

Guwahati: A team of Assam Rifles was fired upon by militants from across the India-Myanmar border in the Tirap and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the exchange of fire lasted for around half an hour.

The Assam Rifles troops were on enhanced patrolling duty in view of heightened vigil for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

According to the official, one junior commissioned officer (JCO) sustained a minor injury in the hand. No injury or any other damage was reported, official added.

The enhanced surveillance in the border areas will continue, stated Assam Rifles.

Taking to Twitter, the official account of PRO Defence Tezpur (Assam/Arunachal Pradesh) wrote, “Incident of firing on AR tps by militant gps from across Indo Myanmar Border took place early morning today in gen area Tirap Changlang. AR tps undertaking enhanced patrolling activities in view of heightened vigil for forthcoming ID 2022. 1 x JCO sustained minor injury in hand.”
