Arunachal Pradesh-bound 900 boxes of illegal liquor seized by Punjab Police


Itanagar, September 14: Punjab Police arrested two liquor peddlers after it recovered 900 boxes of illegal liquor “for sale in Arunachal Pradesh”.

The liquor were meant allegedly for distribution during the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections.

Khanna Police in Ludhiana arrested Joginder Singh of Peher Kalan in Rajpura and Gurjant Singh of Shamshpur in Patiala.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Khanna, Dhruv Dahiya said that based on a tip-off, a check post was set up at Chawa road T-point in Ottalan. During checking, a truck coming from Chawa was intercepted.

The arrested drug peddlers said that the seized liquor are allowed to sale only in Arunachal Pradesh. The illicit liquor was procured from one Shambu to Hoshiarpur. The recovered consignment included local and English brands.

A case has been registered at the Samrala Police Station, Ludhiana under various sections of Excise Act.
