Itanagar, December 7: One National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) cadre was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district on last Thursday morning.
Based on specific inputs on shelter of NSCN-IM cadres, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted an operation near Longkai Village in the district.
Police sources claimed the militant was captain of the outfit.
A report published in the Times of India stated about recovery of two AK-56 assault rifles, one Lathod launcher and a large quantity of ammunition from the site of the encounter.
The Khonsa Battalion apprehended another National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Khaplang cadre from the Chasa village in Tirap district on Thursday morning.
Times of India quoted SP Jitender Kumar Meena as, “The cadre has been identified as Laingen Wangpan (22), a lance corporal of the outfit. Three pistols, a large number of live ammunition, opium and cash were recovered from his possession.”
