Arunachal Pradesh: Rs 15.6 Lakh Seized Under Model Code of Conduct Ahead Of LS Polls

The Nirjuli police in Arunachal Pradesh under the supervision of SP capital, Tumme Amo seized an amount of Fifteen Lakhs Sixty Thousands on March 12th, 2019 under the violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) ahead of the Lok Sabha election.

Amo informed that in action to the election sitrep, the capital police have recovered fifteen live sounds, many election posters were defaced, eight guns were surrendered at the police station and 20 local machetes were seized during the checking at various checkpoints.

The SP requested the people not to carry such huge amounts of cash inviting inconvenience. As per the ECI guidelines, every seizure of Ten Lakhs and above shall be investigated by the Income Tax department, he said.

Further, he asked the individuals who possess the licensed and unlicensed arms to surrender at the nearest police station.

It may be mentioned that on March 12th, 2019, the Investigation Wing of Income Tax, North East Region (NER) issued deployment orders of 157 officials who will spread over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura to monitor election expenditure and flow of black money across 112 districts during the Lok Sabha election time.

“This deployment is under directions of Election Commission of India (ECI) to Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in a bid to throttle the flow of black money to influence elections since black money vitiates the purity of election process, according to ECI,” the principal chief commissioner of Income Tax, North East Region (NER), Kavita Jha said.
