Guwahati: In view of the rising cases and scarcity of hospital beds in the district, the health department of Arunachal has declared Tawang district as containment zone form May 17 till May 31, 2021.
The department in an order also asked the district to ensure adequate numbers of Rapid Response Team, Targeted Ramdomized Testing in the entire Containment Zone, increase the vaccination centres and rates of vaccination, regular close monitoring of home isolation cases, and improve triaging service.
The order also stated, “It is also requested that Essential Goods/Services movement is not hindered in any manner during this time period.”
Moreover, the containment measures in Lower Dibang valley district have been extended for a week to check further spread of COVID-19.
Informing this, chief minister Pema Khandu wrote in Twitter, “In view of rising #COVID19 cases in Tawang district and as recommended by DC, SDMA has approved for declaring entire Tawang dist under Containment from 17th to 31st May. The containment measures in Lower Dibang Valley District has been extended for a week to check further spread.”
