Guwahati: A 25-year-old youth from Pumao village in Longing district was kidnap by NSCN (K-YA) militants on Thursday, days after the militant organisation abducted and released a village headman in the same district.

The youth identified as Alai Wangsu, is the president of Pumao village.

Days after Gaon Burah (village headman) Napho Boham of Lauksim village was kidnapped by a group of 4 to 5 armed militants, local villagers took to the streets to protest against the NSCN (K-YA).

According to sources, the kidnapping occured on May 9, when two armed NSCN (K-YA) members kidnapped the victim.

However, to rescue the victim, security forces have started an operation.

He has yet to be traced. The kidnapping is being carried out by self-styled sergeant Abojak Wangnalow and self-styled Lt. Wangjen Wangsaham, sources added.
