As picnic season begins, many tourist spots yet to get a makeover in Assam; Check list here

Assam is one of India’s most gorgeous destinations. Assam is known for its flora and fauna. Bestowed with scenic hills, lush tea plantations, undulating plains, and rich cultural heritage combine the spectacular natural landscape of Assam.

In the state, the picnic season is almost around the corner. During the months of December to February, tourists from different parts of the country gather in various picnic spots located in the northeastern state of Assam. Every year, during the picnic season, a large number of tourists visit the state due to its picturesque beauty. In a place with so much wildlife, gorgeous scenery, and natural resources, choosing a picnic location can sometimes be challenging.

Dibru-Saikhowa National Park

Dibru-Saikhowa National Park is a beautiful biosphere reserve that is rich in flora and fauna. This semi-evergreen forest will pleasantly surprise you with its rich fauna that include Bengal tiger, leopard, sloth bear, Malayan giant squirrel, slow loris, elephants, monitor lizard, etc. But birds attract most of the people here and it is home to many. There are Gangetic dolphins too in the river that’d keep you all the more excited throughout the trip. This place is perfect for you and your friends or family to have a quality time song with fun moments.

Chandubi Lake

Chandubi Lake is a tourist destination, with some tourists visiting the lake during the Changdubi festival in first week of January. This lake recognized for its natural beauty and tranquillity is one of the best picnic spots to visit in the area of lower Assam.

The Lake is located 64 kilometres distance from the city of Guwahati in the Kamrup district. On the visit to the Lake, visitors can enjoy boating and camping as well along with their picnic enjoyment. The place is regarded as the major picnic spot in lower Assam and for the people residing in Guwahati is the prior choice as a picnic spot.

Deepor Beel/ Dipor Bil

Home to a vast variety of exotic bird species, Dipor Bil is a major tourist attraction of Assam. Well known for its pristine beauty and biodiversity, the area offers a spectacular view of the fascinating wetland and rich forest ecosystem. The lake is located to the south-west of Guwahati city, in Kamrup Metropolitan district.  It is another most visited picnic spot and the lake attracts a huge number of tourists during picnic months as it is a very common choice of people who thinks of an outing with families and close ones.

Nameri National Park

The Nameri National Park is a perfect place for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers for its breathtaking natural beauty and the diverse flora and fauna. This is the reason several tourist attracts for picnic too. People visit the place again and again for the ultimate essence of beauty that one can get only from Nameri National Park. It is in the middle of Assam just 40 kilometers distance from Tezpur located mainly in the Sonitpur district of Assam. While visiting the Nameri National Park people also get to witness the beauty of the Jia Bharali River which divides the national park. Along with the gala time of picnic, visitors can also enjoy rafting in the area.

Bogamati

The Bogamati is the picnic spot regarded as best among others in lower Assam for its dense forests. The place is located 92 kilometers distance from Guwahati in the Baksa district of Assam on the mouth of the Barnadi River. The people in the Assam’s districts of Barpeta, Kamrup, Nalbari, Baksa and Darrang select Bogamati as the common choice for picnics with families and friends.
