ASCPCR writes to Assam CID to probe into child trafficking in state

The Commission through its letter addressed to the IGP-CID, has requested to intervene in the matter and take necessary steps to rescue and bring back those trafficked victims to Assam and to arrest the involved at the earliest

Guwahati: The Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken cognizance of media reports u/s 13 of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005 and considering the fact that 10 numbers of children were trafficked for exploitation as labour from Assam to West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Commission through its letter addressed to the IGP-CID, has requested to intervene in the matter and take necessary steps to rescue and bring back those trafficked victims to Assam and to arrest the involved at the earliest.

The Commission in another of its letter to the Chairperson, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has requested them to initiate dialogue with the Arunachal Pradesh Govt. to ensure that the matter is taken seriously and necessary instructions could be passed to ensure that the check gates maintain string vigil to check for the proper documents of any children, especially children in groups and those without a proper legal guardian,  entering to Arunachal through any of its check gates so that trafficking of children from Assam and any other states to Arunachal could be checked.
