Guwahati: In a tragic incident, one person was killed when a bus collided head-on with a truck in Assam’s Nagaon district on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at Kaliabor in the district, when the bus carrying 22 passengers was heading towards Jagun in the Tinsukia district from Guwahati.
However, the bus lost control after the accident and fell into a deep ditch. As a result, one person died on the spot and several others were injured.
“We’re travelling from Guwahati to Jagun. As we crossed Jokholabondha, I halted the bus when a vehicle came at us from the wrong side; unfortunately, the truck struck one side of the bus, and I subsequently lost control, causing the bus to crash into a ditch”, the bus driver said.
The deceased has been identified as Jintu Bora, a resident of Dergaon.
The injured were immediately taken to Kaliabor Sub Divisional Civil Hospital.
